Can poker rooms cheat provably fair systems?

A properly implemented provably fair system is mathematically impossible to cheat. The server seed hash is committed before the hand, and the unhashed seed is revealed after. Changing the seed would change the hash.

Which poker rooms are provably fair?

SwC Poker, Blockchain Poker, and some others use provably fair card shuffling. Most traditional rooms use third-party RNG audits instead. Check our room reviews for provably fair status.

Does provably fair mean the game is completely fair?

Provably fair verifies that the shuffle was predetermined and not altered. However, it does not prevent player collusion or bot usage, which are separate fairness concerns.

Steps

Gather your seeds

After the hand completes, the room reveals the server seed. You need: the server seed, client seed, and hand/game number.

Enter the data

Input all the provably fair data into the form. Include the hashed server seed if you saved it before the hand.

Understand the verification

We explain how the deck shuffle was determined and verify the room did not alter the outcome after cards were dealt.

Pro Tips

Save the hashed server seed BEFORE playing important hands - this proves the room committed to an outcome
Set a custom client seed for additional security
Not all rooms support provably fair - crypto-native rooms like SwC Poker and Blockchain Poker are more likely to offer it
Provably fair guarantees fair shuffles but does not prevent collusion between players
