Understanding Overround

When all implied probabilities in a market are added together, the total exceeds 100%. This excess is the bookmaker's margin (also called vigorish, vig, or juice). A typical sports market runs at 103–110%, meaning the "true" odds are slightly shorter than displayed. Value bettors look for odds where the implied probability is lower than their own estimate of the real probability.
