PKO bounty payouts: three knockouts, still a $5 loss
Our $55 poker example pays $50 from three knockouts. See which bounty money reaches your account and which amount stays on your head.
Three knockouts can still leave you with a loss. In our $55 progressive knockout (PKO) example, eliminating players with $25, $25 and $50 bounties pays you $50 in cash. If you then bust before the regular prizes, you finish $5 down.
The other $50 increases the bounty on your head. Counting it as cash received would turn that $5 loss into a false $45 profit.
How $100 in opponent bounties pays you $50
We use a 50/50 split: half of each eliminated player's full bounty goes to your account, and half goes onto your own bounty. PokerStars describes this PKO payout rule. Check the event rules and what its displayed bounty figure means before using the example.
Our invented entry costs $55: $25 for regular prizes, $25 for your starting bounty and a $5 fee. You eliminate three opponents in separate hands, with no split pots.

Your own bounty grows from $25 to $75. That number shows the bounty attached to your elimination. It is separate from the $50 already paid to your account.
What to record after you bust
If you miss the regular prizes, record $55 spent and $50 received. The account result is $50 minus $55, or a $5 loss. Your $75 head bounty does not become another return when someone eliminates you.
Suppose the same knockouts also lead to a $20 finishing prize. You receive $70 altogether and finish $15 ahead. The calculation uses the cash prize and the bounty payments once each.
Use the tournament ROI calculator to record the full entry cost, cash prizes and bounties actually paid. If an exported result already includes bounties, do not add them again. Keep the account statement or tournament result so you can check the total later.
Under the PokerStars rule cited above, the tournament winner also receives their own remaining bounty. That payment belongs in the winner's returns once it is awarded. A bounty still attached to a player during the event is not yet that payment.
Assumptions: one $55 entry, a 50/50 bounty split, sole credit for each knockout, and no other rewards or charges. These amounts model a result; they are not a current tournament offer or a forecast of your winnings. Cash paid = ($25 + $25 + $50) × 50% = $50. Own bounty = $25 starting amount + $50 added = $75.
